Brutalist Ars Munda resin wall decoration cranes - mid century modern

Brutalist wall sculpture by Ars Munda. This impressive wall relief, often called the 'Lovebirds', is a characteristic work of the Ars Munda Collective, a group of artists mainly active in the 1960s and 1970s (Mid-Century Modern period). The sculpture is an excellent example of Brutalism in decorative art, with robust, heavily textured surfaces and an emphasis on texture. The vertical, stylised depiction shows two intertwined birds with long necks and outstretched wings. The 7 cm depth creates a dramatic shadow, enhancing the sculptural quality. Although it looks like heavy cast iron or bronze, it is made of resin. Ars Munda used this technique to make high-quality art more affordable and accessible to a wide audience.
