Superb covered pot (or pharmacy pot / sweet jar) in glazed ceramic, signed by the famous Italian manufacturer Verzolini (Pesaro, Italy). A magnificent example of Mid-Century Modern design from the 1960s–1970s: Decor: Colourful abstract and geometric pattern (yellow, red, blue, orange) incised in slight relief on a very elegant glossy black background. Marking: Signed under the base "Verzolini", with the signature also present on the side of the pot along with its original label "Made in Italy". Its creations from the 1960s and 1970s are renowned for their dark glazes (often black or petrol) contrasting with very colourful geometric patterns, typical of Italian design from that era. The contrast between the depth of the black glaze and the incised coloured rings is the true signature of the iconic creations of the manufacturer in the 60s and 70s. Still active today under the direction of the Verzolini family, the workshop remains a reference for Italian craftsmanship. Shows some light surface scratches and wear due to age.
