Overview. Rare Biedermeier sewing stand / stock from South Germany, circa 1825. Compact, tall profile with restrained, elegant Biedermeier lines. Materials. Cherry wood (veneered and solid), hand-polished with shellac. Round pincushion covered in new black structured velvet; cushion is removable. Design. Circular top with a subtle raised rim and contrasting dark trim beneath the top. Slender turned central column rising to a tripod base with gracefully splayed legs. Features. Small front drawer for sewing notions. Can also be used as a compact side table. Dimensions. Overall height: 81.5 cm. Top diameter: 23.5 cm; legs span / footprint: 50 cm (width and depth). Origin.
