Arts & Crafts hand-carved wall mirror with floral roses, early 20th century

Wall mirror in a dark stained wooden frame, carved by hand with a rose in each corner and sprays of serrated leaves along the sides. The leaves and roses are carved in relief and stand out from a finely stippled background. The outer edge of the frame has a soft, wavy outline, which gives the mirror a lively shape. The style is Arts and Crafts, from the early 20th century, and the carving shows the careful handwork typical of a workshop piece. We've attributed the mirror to The Netherlands for now as this was where it was found. The mirror plate is clean and clear, with hardly any spots or wear. It is most likely an earlier replacement and not the original glass. The frame itself has the normal signs of age for its period, such as a few small marks and some wear on the high points of the carving, but it is solid and in good condition. The back is closed with a wooden panel, and the mirror hangs on a rope cord, so it can be hung straight away. Measurements: Height: 58 cm Width: 44 cm
