Art déco vase from the 1930s, attributed to Rudolf Schrotter for Inwald Glassworks, made of semi-transparent, mass-coloured glass in a cool amethyst purple. The slender, hourglass silhouette with a subtle waist and massive base creates a perfect balance between monumentality and sculptural lightness. The surface is covered with precise embossing: round, geometric motifs and vertical grooves, typical of the art déco style. The shiny gloss of the glass emphasises the thickness of the wall and deepens the play of reflections, while the lack of visible seams or imperfections testifies to advanced glassmaking technique. The whole is preserved in very good vintage condition – only minimal, natural signs of time are visible, with no chips, cracks or repairs. The form of this vase carries a modernist manifesto of the 1930s: the discipline of geometry combines here with the softness of gently bevelled edges, and the cool purple of the glass refers to the atmosphere of bright, stylish interiors of urban villas. The vessel seems to tell of times when craftsmanship and applied art formed a harmonious duet. Rhythmic grooves guide the light, and the deepening shade of purple evokes the sunrise entering a living room arranged in the spirit of the era – with respect for tradition, but with a distinctly modern touch. Here, every detail matters, and the polished surface invites you to observe the play of light and shadow. The vase can be displayed solo on a sideboard or shelf of light wood, where it forms a geometric accent and emphasises the collector's character of the interior. It also looks interesting among other glass vessels from the art déco era, creating a dialogue of shapes and colours. Combined with fabrics in subdued colours or metallic accessories, it will highlight the cool tone of the purple and the balanced form. It will work well in arrangements inspired by modernism as well as in eclectic collector's spaces.
