1954 Mid Century Modern Landscape Oil Painting 'Walking the Archipelago', Framed

Walking the archipelago. Size: 58 X 66 cm (including frame) Oil on canvas. A very peaceful mid century modernist landscape in oil, painted on canvas and dated 1954. In this painting we see the edge of an island, with the blue sea panning across the lower edge of the composition. Wonderfully broad and expressive brushstrokes fill the canvas, using contrasting colours to create depth and a sense of space within the painting. A path leads our eyes upwards towards a white house that sits on a hill. To the right we see another house and a hint of the townscape carrying on further into the distance. Along the path we see two figures walking along, giving this painting a sense of place, reminding us of the peaceful walks we take on weekends or while on holiday with loved ones. This painting is housed in a gilt frame with an inner fabric lined border. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
