Vase Model 3030 by Alvar Aalto for Iittala, Limited Edition 1998 The iconic "Savoy" vase was designed by Alvar Aalto for the Finnish company Iittala. Considered one of the most revered designers of the 20th century, Aalto created this vase as part of a collection of 10 pieces for a competition held in 1936 to determine what would be exhibited in the Swedish pavilion at the 1937 World's Fair in Paris. Aalto won the competition and his free-form objects were an immediate success. This piece is a light cobalt and has an acid-etched stamp and date on the base.
