Rare set of 9 vintage plates – Hand-painted ceramic – Black back

Superb table service in glazed ceramic from the Le Brescon workshop in Martigues. This artisanal set, typical of the Mid-Century movement, is distinguished by its vibrant colours and its famous glossy black glazed underside, a signature of the manufacture. Details of the set: The lot consists of 9 pieces hand-decorated with great finesse: 1 Large Serving Platter (Fisherman & Merchant): A generous centrepiece depicting a couple of fishermen returning from the port, with relief details on their clothing and baskets. 8 Dessert Plates (Merchant Series): An exceptional collection where each plate features a different character from Provençal folklore: flower seller, fishmonger, baker, basket seller, etc. The borders are highlighted with a two-tone green and blue frieze. Technical Characteristics: Signature: Each piece is signed "Le Brescon" hand-engraved under the black glazed base. Style: Artistic Provençal ceramics (Vallauris / Martigues style). Condition: Ceramics in excellent condition. The glaze has retained all its original brilliance.
