Victorian military slope desk made of hardwood

We are pleased to offer for sale this magnificent Victorian military writing slope made of antique mahogany and brass, accompanied by a later support. This is a rare and valuable example of luxury and military antiques, likely made from old Cuban mahogany. The brass fittings work perfectly and are mounted flawlessly. The support, made later, serves to display and protect the piece, similar in size to a normal side table. The writing slope features several interesting characteristics: the top can be tilted at 45 degrees for reading, and a wooden piece with beads fits into two holes at the front to hold documents in place. A large side drawer is locked by a long metal rod that prevents it from being fully removed. The interior includes two storage sections for documents and various compartments for supplies. The inside is lined with baize felt, and beneath the base is a scalloped silk design secured by nails, similar to the covers of old LV trunks. The piece is in perfect condition for its age and ready for a gallery. Closed dimensions: height 50 cm, width 53 cm, depth 28 cm. Open dimensions: height 35 cm, width 53 cm, depth 52.5 cm.
