Antique hardwood military campaign desk with writing slope.

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent original antique Victorian military writing slope in mahogany and brass. There is actually a pair of these items, the other having slightly different dimensions and listed elsewhere. This is an exceptional piece of antique military luxury with a beautiful wood patina, very old mahogany, probably Cuban. The brass fittings work perfectly and are impeccably mounted. The writing slope features a large side drawer locked by a long metal rod, which prevents the drawer from coming out completely. It offers two sections for document storage and several compartments for stationery. The writing surface is made of high-quality green leather embossed with gold leaf, providing a Regency style look and feel. The condition is perfect for its age, ready to be displayed in a gallery. The surface has been lightly cleaned, waxed, and polished. Dimensions: height 45 cm, width 51 cm, depth 30.5 cm, measured at the widest point. Available for collection in Pulborough. The leather may show natural patina with creases and wear due to age; annual waxing is recommended to prevent moisture loss, and it is advised not to expose hand-dyed leather to prolonged direct sunlight to avoid drying and discolouration.
