Antique orientalist art nouveau lacquered wooden box

Antique glove box, lacquered wood. Late 19th, early 20th century. Dimensions: 30.5 cm X 10.5 cm. Height: 8 cm. Elongated rectangular wooden box, red-brown lacquered, decorated with a gilded floral decoration, applied by hand. The scrolled motifs evoke the plant lines typical of Art Nouveau. The use of gilding and the style of the flowers recall the oriental-inspired decorative arts of this period. The box shows uniform traces of use and aging, a very beautiful patina consistent with a hundred years. The key is missing. The hinges are impeccable, as are the assemblies: no play and perfect alignment of the container with its lid.
