A small Empire-style writing desk with detached columns in mahogany and mahogany veneer. Early 19th century work. Topped with an intact 2 cm thick marble slab in shades of black and dark gray. It opens with a wide drawer located directly below the marble. It also opens at the front with a drop-front featuring a mercury mirror (note some signs of wear). Its writing surface is covered with dark green leather. Revealing five small drawers in total, as well as a large storage niche. At the bottom, a wide drawer in the frieze rests on pilasters ringed with finely chased gilt bronze and joined by a beautiful stretcher. Ball feet at the front and straight feet at the back. Perfectly stable. A beautifully crafted piece of furniture with ideal dimensions that combines elegance and functionality.
