Exceptional Art Nouveau style glass-fronted bookcase in veneered wood, made by the famous cabinetmaker and decorator Jules Cayette, active in Nancy at the beginning of the 20th century. This piece of furniture is remarkable for the elegance of its curved lines and the richness of its decoration: the two central glass doors are adorned with stained glass windows with a stylized seaweed motif, typical of the naturalist vocabulary of the Nancy School. The side uprights are dressed in a dynamic herringbone veneer and incorporate mother-of-pearl floral marquetry. The lower part is decorated with two chiseled gilt bronze panels with a stylized seabed motif, highlighting the refinement of the ornamentation work. There is also a finely carved upper band. Comes from one of these largest orders for a bourgeois family from the Marne in 1928 visible in the reference work on Jules Cayette written by Etienne Martin (pages 109-111) we also have for sale the desk with the armchair completing the set.
