Beautiful oil on wood panel dating from the 20s and representing an interior scene: a little girl is reciting her lesson to her grandmother who is embroidering. It is signed lower left (illegible signature). The technique on this painting is magnificent: the interior of this kitchen is very dark and yet we have the impression of entering it and participating in this scene! The little girl who is seen from behind is made with a few brushstrokes and 2 colors, and yet we immediately understand the scene: she is reciting her lesson which she is holding in her hands to her grandmother who is listening to her at the same time as she embroiders her fabric. It is an extremely touching and very simple scene of life. A true rural scene from the beginning of the 20th century! Some touches of light and bright colors come from the blue vase, the window panes and the floor. Good general condition, note: some wear and signs of age on the back of the panel.
