Large sculptural glazed ceramic planter, circa 1970

An imposing sculptural piece in glazed ceramic, cylindrical in shape with openwork, resting on a circular base. Its thick body, pierced with large vertical oval openings, gives it an architectural and almost totemic presence. The surface features a textured glaze with natural shades, oscillating between deep browns and light beiges, with deliberately irregular material effects that emphasize the raw and organic character of the piece. Although unsigned, this work is in keeping with the creations of Belgian ceramicist Bart Maréchal, active in the 1970s, known for his exploration of sculptural volumes and mineral glazes.
