Sommerso Murano Glass Ashtray or Bowl, Italy, 1960s

Beautiful mid-century murano sommerso glass ashtray/small bowl (italy, 1960s). Made of thick blue, dark blue and transparent murano glass. Perfectly works as a small bowl, vide poche/catch-all or as an ashtray. Barely readable label/sticker at the bottom (can be removed very easily if needed). Diameter (max): 14.5 cm; width: 12 cm; depth: 12 cm, height: 6 cm. Excellent vintage condition. Some usual very light wear consistent with age and use at the base. ''sommerso'' is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
