Mid Century Sommerso Murano Glass Bowl by Flavio Poli for Seguso, Italy, 1960s

Lovely murano sommerso shell-shaped bowl designed by flavio poli for seguso (italy, 1960s). Thick and heavy hand blown glass. Amazing and rare colours. Perfectly works as a small bowl, vide poche/catch-all or as an ashtray. Width: 14.5 cm; depth: 14 cm; height: 5.5 cm. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Usual scratches at the bottom. ''sommerso'' is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
