Labelled Mid Century Sommerso Murano Glass Ashtray/Small Bowl, Italy, 1960s

Beautiful mid-century Murano sommerso glass ashtray/catch-all/small bowl (Italy, 1960s). Made of thick blue, dark blue and transparent Murano glass. Perfectly works as a small bowl, vide poche/catch-all or as an ashtray. Barely readable label at the bottom (can be removed very easily if needed). Height: 6 cm; width: 12 cm; depth: 12 cm. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Some usual very light wear at the base. ''Sommerso'' is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
