This lithograph “The Enchantment of Hours - The Rainbow” is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the bottom left corner. This work has never been exhibited. It is in superb condition, with perfect colours. We note a small white spot in the sky. We have taken as many photos of the defects as possible so that you can assess the condition. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, for shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances by creating innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
