Art Nouveau basket sugar bowl, silver-plated brass, Orivit, Germany, early 20th century

A basket sugar bowl from the early 20th century, made by the German manufacturer Orivit, formed from brass covered with a layer of silver. Its colour is a warm, slightly yellowish silver with a matte to semi-matte finish, which over the years has developed an authentic patina and subtle discolourations. The rim of the vessel is decorated with an openwork frieze with Art Nouveau motifs: stylised, wavy plant ornaments intertwine with geometric, rhomboidal cut-outs. The handle, with a distinct, angular line and delicate engraving, is solidly connected to the bowl. The smooth surface of the body has preserved traces of age – small scratches, local darker spots and discolourations, especially visible inside and on the handle. The construction remains stable, without cracks or major deformations. The item is presented in its original condition, with a historical patina typical of antiques of this class. Condition: good, with clear signs of age and use. This sugar bowl evokes the spirit of Art Nouveau, when craftsmanship met applied art, and everyday utensils gained a decorative dimension.
