Arturo orselli (c.1820-1900) italian painter and watercolorist, renowned for his genre scenes, arturo orselli declined interior scenes, presenting a variety of characters, scenes of life in taverns, mythological subjects, as well as representations of gentlemen, horses and soldiers. Arturo orselli made many oil paintings, but he is also known for his many watercolors. Watercolor became more common during the "grand tour", a long journey through europe initiated by young people from the highest classes of european society, culminating in the eighteenth century. The technique of watercolor painting is a real craze because of its practicality and portability. Indeed, this means allows an immediate visual capture of what is observed.
