Large Sculptural Murano Vase - Flavio Poli - Sommerso - 1960

Centrepiece of mid-20th century Venetian art glass by Flavio Poli during his artistic direction for the prestigious Seguso Vetri d'Arte. This sculptural vase, with an imposing height of 34 cm, exemplifies the essence of 1960s design. This piece is a masterful demonstration of the Sommerso technique (submerged glass). It reveals a deep amethyst purple core, delicately wrapped in a sapphire blue layer, all encapsulated in a translucent crystal of absolute purity. The complexity of this work lies in its pierced side handles and its elongated double neck. It is an exceptional hot work: the lateral "eyes" were not added or applied, but were stretched and pierced directly from the incandescent mass of the gather. This organic technique requires a dexterity possessed only by the great glass masters of Murano. Condition: Exceptional. Gallery condition. No chips, no cracks, no white haze. The glass retains a spectacular mirror-like brilliance. Very light normal usage micro-scratches are present under the base, testifying to its authenticity.
