Burr Walnut Commode Waring & Gillow

We are delighted to offer for sale this large Burr walnut chest of drawers in the highest quality by Waring & Gillow Lancaster, part of a larger suite. This piece is part of a bedroom set that includes a triple wardrobe, a dressing table with triptych mirrors and chair, a large bedside table, and finally the chest of drawers. This sale concerns only the piece mentioned above; the others are listed in my other items. It is the best quality I have ever seen for this type of furniture, a true masterpiece of craftsmanship. It is made from quarter-sawn walnut with large panels adorned with Burr walnut on the top and drawers. The inlay of the central drawer features curtain acorns. The feet are finely carved with gilded silver details, above which is a band of marquetry inlaid with flowers that runs the full width. The piece has the original metal plate from Gillow of Lancaster inside one of the drawers, and the locks are marked Waring & Gillows LTD Lancaster. A unique piece of museum-quality. The condition is good, deeply cleaned, waxed, and hand-polished, with no notable defects. Dimensions taken at the widest point: Height: 102 cm, Width: 95 cm, Depth: 56.5 cm.
