Antique baroque walnut commode, Italy, 18th century

Baroque canterano in walnut dating from the early 18th century, featuring a façade with four bipartite drawers. The first drawer, with a flap, reveals an elegant internal scarabattolo composed of four drawers and an open central compartment. The front part of the upper top, also with a flap, lifts to access the first drawer. The uprights are crafted at a forty-five-degree angle and supported by plinth feet, offering stability and refinement. Fitted with wrought iron handles, it features interiors in fir. Originally, the first drawer had neither a flap nor an internal scarabattolo, indicating a later customization that enhances the functionality and aesthetics of the piece.
