Antique toilet commode known as “chemin de fer”, from the Louis-Philippe period, dating from the mid-19th century. Made of mahogany veneer with a flamed grain, it features a façade with four large drawers and a curved upper section. The top opens thanks to its old mechanism to reveal the original toilet space: an integrated mirror in the lid and a white marble shelf (the marble is, however, incomplete), once intended to hold a jug, basin, and toilet accessories. The piece also retains its original fittings, hinges, and old wheels. The furniture is in its original condition, with its patina and various signs of use related to nearly two centuries of existence: small scratches, marks, and irregularities visible in the photographs. The interior has also preserved the natural traces of its use.
