Large poster 120 X 80 cm signed in the plate + signature in graphite at the bottom of the painter. Several folds and fades, light stains. Fair condition. Plan to frame. Henri matchavariani is the author of a whole advertising campaign for air france, for which he created numerous posters, reproduced in large format (in the metro, in airports) and for the press. Here he is inspired by an emblematic sport: american football. Illustrator recognized for many magazines, such as vogue, henri matchavariani (born in 1939) is also a painter and calligrapher. He worked closely with helmut newton on an advertising project. His art is guided by the elegance of the line and by a gesture made of flights inspired by the orient. "just a few strokes, like an economy, like a strict necessity to the sign. Just a few strokes like a quivering of pastel or ink in the silence of my white sheets. Just a few strokes, and nothing more than that". Henri matchavariani collection - poster aviation matchavariani is also a personality of french cinema: he has produced numerous dubbings, and regularly appears in supporting roles, notably in films by philippe claudel, roman polanski, etc. He currently gives the reply to michael douglas in the title role of the television series from apple: benjamin franklin.
