Rare bench designed by Niels O. Møller and manufactured by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark in the 1960s. Møller is among the great names of the golden age of Danish furniture design. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he did not come from the fine arts academy but from craftsmanship – and this uncompromising love of detail marks his creations to this day. Benches made by him are rare on the vintage market. The structure is made of solid teak, whose warm hue and lively grain highlight the clear and clean lines. The tops of the legs are characteristically shaped and echo the formal language of his famous chair model 77. On the short sides, crossbars connect the legs, while on the long sides, a teak crossbar runs just beneath the weaving – a beautiful contrast between the warm wood and the light paper cord. The seat has been entirely re-woven by hand in paper cord, following traditional methods. The bench is ideal around a table, in an entrance hall, at the foot of a bed, or as a side table in the living room. The teak has been fully renovated and all joints checked. The bench is stable and ready for use. Condition: very good vintage condition – fully restored, with new weaving in paper cord and only minimal signs of use due to age. A rare piece of Danish design history. Dimensions: approximately 150 × 40 × 45 cm (width × depth × height)
