English Empire Commode / Egyptian Revival in mahogany – Sculpted columns

Beautiful and imposing Empire period chest of drawers, made of mahogany, featuring particularly decorative architecture. It opens at the front with four large drawers, one of which is slightly protruding, as well as two small drawers arranged in the upper tier. The front is framed by two particularly interesting carved uprights, adorned at their top with a decoration reminiscent of pineapple leaves, and extended by fluted columns. The whole rests at the front on powerful sculpted feet in the shape of lion's paws, characteristic of the Empire decorative vocabulary. The drawers are equipped with mother-of-pearl knobs and brass lock entries, providing a nice contrast with the deep hue of the mahogany. A piece of furniture with a beautiful presence, both elegant and architectural, ideal in a classic interior or paired with more contemporary decor.
