Elegant games table by Maxime Old, designed and made in the late 1940s. It features an oak veneer structure with clean lines, tapered legs highlighted by stars and brass feet, and a top covered in olive green suede. This piece perfectly illustrates Maxime Old's signature approach, combining architectural rigor, subtle contrasts, and timeless sophistication. It is in superb condition, fully restored in our workshop. Maxime Old (1910–1991) was one of the most celebrated French cabinetmakers and designers of the 20th century. Trained at the École Boulle and a disciple of Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, he excelled in the art of combining exceptional craftsmanship with simple, refined lines, using noble materials such as oak, ebony, bronze, and leather. After the Second World War, Old became a bridge between traditional cabinetmaking and modernist design, creating functional and elegant pieces for private clients, ocean liners, embassies, and public commissions. His work, marked by clean shapes and subtle curves, earned him international acclaim and numerous awards, including the Légion d'Honneur.
