Bakelite lamp by christian dell for römmler from the 1930s-40s. It is made entirely of bakelite, including the underside. It is functional. Christian dell (24 february 1893 – 18 july 1974) was a german designer, born in offenbach, he attended the saxon school of arts and crafts in weimar from 1912 to 1913. From 1922 to 1925 he worked as a foreman of the metal workshop at the bauhaus in weimar. From 1926 dell began designing lighting fixtures, initially for the new frankfurt project. As a pioneer of industrial and plastic design, he used bakelite and aminoplastics for his designs for molitor-zweckleuchten in 1929-1930. Hermann römmler ag collaborated with renowned designers, such as christian dell, who designed bakelite lamps for the company in the 1930s. These lamps, like the sigma model, became iconic pieces of industrial design of the time. H.43 cm width 15.5 cm depth 21.5 cm reflector diameter 17 cm.
