Large Space Age ceiling light or wall lamp (“Bolla” model) designed by Elio Martinelli and produced by his company Martinelli Luce (Italy, 1970s). Great iconic design. The square shaped, opal white plastic diffuser seems to form a falling drop. Four rotating metal holders at the corners and metal base. Perfectly works as a ceiling light but also as an impressive wall lamp. Elio Martinelli sought inspiration for his lamps in nature and simple geometric shapes. He is known as one of the first designers to use plastic as a material for lamps. "Bolla" is Martinelli’s iconic model. Renowned art museums hold multiple Martinelli Luce models in their permanent collections. Rewired (hardwired) and ready to use (compatible in all countries Europe, US, UK, etc.). Requires 3x E27 light bulbs. LED compatible. Height (from ceiling): 21 cm; width: 52 cm; depth: 52 cm. Good vintage condition. Wear (scratches) and patina consistent with age and use. Chips at the corners of the shade.
