This lithograph “The Fairy Tale of Hours - The Setting Sun” is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the bottom left corner. The work is authentic and old. Regarding its condition, there are small stains in the margin. On the lithograph, we note small stains and a slight diagonal crease mark. The lithograph is very fresh in colour; once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to soft-ground engraving, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theatre of the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
