What an original and curious object! When I found it I didn't know what it was for, I just found the object charming and I couldn't wait to find out what it did. It's a wall-mounted string dispenser with a place for scissors! It's clever and very decorative! It comes from a time when utility was taken care of, when the aesthetic aspect was very important because not everything was hidden in cupboards! And this bird is just in time since wall decoration has regained its place in the house! It will add relief to your wall decoration, in a collection with other objects, with string or not! But since its base is flat, it can just as easily be placed on a worktop or a shelf in the kitchen for food string or in a workshop... It is made of olive green or khaki green enameled ceramic in the shape of a bird, a dove perhaps, with pretty reliefs that represent the plumage. It therefore has an opening at the back to put the ball of string, an opening at the beak to let the end of the string come out (you need a fine hand or a little patience to pass the string), an opening at the top of the tail to put the scissors in and finally a smaller one to hang it on the wall. It must date from the 60s or 70s. It is in good condition, no cracks, just a small chip on the opening of the beak, not very visible and small chips around the large opening at the back, invisible once the bird is hung on the wall. It measures 13.5 cm in length from the tail to the beak, 10 cm in maximum width, 13.5 cm in maximum height.
