Pair of Art Deco armchairs — black lacquered wood and zebra leather - mid-century

Pair of Art Deco style armchairs, France, second half of the 20th century. Unmarked pieces, in the style of the "ocean liner" sets from 1925-1935, acquired at public auction (Artesia auction house, Châtellerault). Structure in solid wood with a black lacquer finish, featuring geometric lines characteristic of the Art Deco vocabulary. Upholstered seats covered in white and black zebra-printed leather. Complete restoration carried out by specialised craftsmen: re-lacquering by a cabinetmaker (filling in age-related chips, fine sanding, polishing to a deep shine); seats entirely reupholstered and covered anew in zebra-printed leather by a saddler. The structure is original, while the upholstery and leather are new.
