Antique Swedish Bentwood Box with Lid • Folk Art

Very rare circular bentwood oak box with lid. Swedish folk art. All materials are natural, no nails or glue. (I think there are still 2 nails on it). Traditional Swedish folk art box made with real craftsmanship. It has a beautiful patina with traditional pyrographed patterns of stars in particular. The first bentwood boxes were made of oak, like this example, while the late 19th century boxes were made of pine. Acquired in northern Sweden. Circa 1800. Dimensions: diameter 34 cm • height 19 cm. It is in very good vintage condition considering its great age with just 2 small losses on the bottom inside (see photos).
