Pair of antique bronze andirons - period 1870/1900

Ideal for adding character to your wood stove or repurposing as majestic bookends on a bookshelf. Heavy pieces of fine craftsmanship. Chic and timeless style. The two metal rods can be removed if you wish to keep the devils for use simply as bookends. They feature a highly detailed sculpted decoration representing a Mascaron (a face resembling a Devil or Satyr) with horns and baroque scrolls. Features: • Style: Classic / Baroque / Renaissance. • Pattern: Laughing faun face (Mascaron) and intricately designed baluster. • Material: Bronze - The rear support bar is made of wrought iron. • Condition: Beautiful vintage condition. They show a lovely patina of time that attests to their age. (Note: some normal signs of use for fireplace objects). Each piece weighs 4.5 kg (9 kg for the pair). The dimensions are as follows: 54 cm long, 33 cm high, 26 cm wide. Assembly: The fixing system with wide threaded rods and square nuts at the back is a strong indicator of manufacturing from the late 19th century or very early 20th century. These andirons were made between 1870 and 1900.
