This iconic armchair is the F444 model, designed by French designer Pierre Paulin for Dutch manufacturer Artifort. A true symbol of 1960s–1970s design, it stands out for its radical and sculptural aesthetic. The version presented here, made of black leather stretched over a chrome tubular frame, was produced as part of the rare reissue launched by Artifort in the early 2000s. With its clean lines and sprung seat, the F444 offers both visual and ergonomic comfort. The leather, elegantly patinated by time, retains a suppleness and a satiny appearance that emphasize both the brutalist and refined character of the piece. Its sleek and lightweight chrome-plated steel frame asserts lasting strength without ever weighing down the overall effect. Its harmonious dimensions (H: 94 cm, W: 83 cm, D: 72 cm) rest on an iconic sled base that reinforces the impression of weightlessness and fluidity. Designed to follow the curves of the body, the F444 invites a naturally relaxed sitting posture. Acquired directly from Artifort in the 2000s, this model is part of the short series reissued at the time, making it particularly rare on the current market. It is in a very good condition, remarkable for a piece over twenty years old.
