Beautiful cup or pocket empty in sandstone by wilhelm kåge with a marbled green glaze, a silver floral pattern in its center and a silver stripe around the entire perimeter of the cup. A snail is depicted at the foot of the flowers. It was manufactured in 1949 as part of the argenta series. A brilliant work of art by the swedish master ceramist! It is numbered 1003 and is decorated by hand in the gustavsberg workshop, which gives it a unique touch. It measures 13.5 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height. The argenta series pieces were designed by wilhelm kåge in 1930. This series was presented for the first time at this year's stockholm exhibition, where swedish artists, artisans and companies showed off their latest achievements. Manual decoration using a mixture of silver paste, turpentine and clove oil. Argenta coins can be marked in several ways, but they usually contain "gustavsberg" and "argenta" on the underside. From 1931 to 1958, they were hand-signed with the symbol of the year using silver paste. From 1959, the pieces are marked with a golden hallmark. (the small symbol s corresponds to the year of manufacture 1949, or perhaps a V which would correspond rather to the year 1952...) In very good condition, some lack of silvering on the stems of the flowers.
