Antique hardware cabinet with 48 drawers, circa 1900.

Dating from around 1900, this antique hardware cabinet originally comes from a shop in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Made of pine wood, it features 48 small drawers arranged in 16 rows of three. Each drawer has a numbered enamel label and a metal ring handle. The cabinet retains its dark grey-green painted finish on the front and one side, showing signs of wear and use. The other side is in natural pine. Several drawer fronts still display small metal accessories, such as screws, bolts, hooks, and other hardware, reflecting its history as a storage piece for hardware. The interior of the drawers is in natural pine. An old supplier label is also present on one side. With its tall and narrow proportions, the cabinet offers ample storage without taking up too much floor space. Originally used to organise small hardware pieces, it is also suitable for storing jewellery, sewing supplies, craft materials, small tools, or other collections. The cabinet is in good antique condition, with visible signs of age and use consistent with its history as a shop furniture piece. The original painted finish shows scratches, small chips, marks, and areas of wear, revealing the natural wood in places. The numbered enamel labels and metal ring handles have been preserved, along with various old accessories attached to the drawer fronts. The wooden drawers show signs of previous use, including marks and discolouration inside. Some drawers contain small additional compartments.
