Jean Tessier (1931-2020), a native of Villenauxe-la-Grande, was one of the pioneers of the post-war revival of stoneware in tableware. He graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and also held a degree in Fine Arts. In 1959, in Villenauxe-la-Grande, Jean Tessier opened the CEP workshop, which takes its name from the famous Champagne vineyards.
