1970s. Serving tureen. Glazed stoneware. Le Cep workshop, Villenauxe-la-Grande (Aube) Jean Tessier (1931-2020) French ceramist, calligrapher, writer, and art critic. Made in France. Lid diameter: 205 mm. Overall width: 275 mm. Overall height: 150 mm. Weight: 2.35 kg. Jean Tessier (1931-2020), a native of Villenauxe-la-Grande, was one of the pioneers of the post-war revival of stoneware in tableware. He graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and also held a degree in Fine Arts. In 1959, in Villenauxe-la-Grande, Jean Tessier opened the CEP workshop, which takes its name from the famous Champagne vineyards. Heavily influenced by his Scandinavian experience, he created a line of tableware combining a pure and simple return to form and material...
