Antique Italian painting from the late 18th century, The Annunciation

An antique Italian painting from the late 18th century. This oil-on-canvas work depicts a religious subject—the Annunciation—and is executed with a high level of painterly skill. The composition is vertical, featuring a pleasing use of light and color. The Archangel Gabriel appears, offering white lilies to the Virgin Mary, who is shown in prayer and illuminated by the Holy Spirit. The painting has undergone extensive conservation-focused restoration, including relining, replacement of the stretcher, and inpainting in numerous areas (see photos). The painting is in good condition, though it bears clear signs of restoration.
