set of 4 Hillestack chairs, Robin Day, 1950

These chairs, model Hillestack, were designed by the English designer couple Robert and Lucienne Day in the 1950s and produced by HILLE and Co. Essential pieces of English design from the 1950s, they embody character and elegance, and will not go unnoticed. They feature a compass base made of oak, with a curved seat and backrest made of thermoformed plywood covered in soft orange velvet (not bright). Metal tips adorn the feet. The original varnish shows signs of use but has been renovated and is bright. The seat and backrest have been reupholstered recently and show no stains or wear. A mark from stacking during storage remains, but it should fade/disappear with use. Sold in sets of 4 (in this listing), a 5th is available. Stackable. Dimensions: height 760mm (seat height 460mm); width 465mm; depth 500mm. Seat height is 45 cm.
