Vase lamp from West German Pottery – Fat Lava with woven thread shade|45 cm. An expressive piece from the 1970s: this upcycled table lamp is made from a Henkel vase from West German pottery with a striking Fat Lava glaze. The intense orange glaze with dark reliefs resembles molten lava. The rounded shape with two side handles is typical of ceramic design from this era, making the vase a decorative point even when turned off. Particularly fascinating is the combination with the modern lampshade. The cylindrical shade is not covered in classic fabric but is made using a complex weaving technique. Coloured nylon threads are stretched around the body of the shade. Thanks to this semi-transparent construction, a fascinating play of light is created when lit: the colours appear much more intense, while the light gently and atmospherically filters through the gaps in the weave. The harmony of orange, red, yellow, and green perfectly complements the strong glaze of the vase and highlights its 70s character. Like all lamps from Roomlight Studio, this unique piece has been carefully transformed into a table lamp. The collectible value of the vase is preserved as no perforations have been made. The reversible wiring solution allows for a return to the original state at any time. The lamp base is also weighted to ensure good stability. A character-rich accent lamp for Mid-Century, Vintage, or 70s interiors – a true unique piece that combines sculptural ceramics with exceptional lighting.
