Coat rack Sciangai by Gionathan De Pas & Donato Durbino & Paolo Lomazzi for Zanotta, 1973

Iconic coat rack Sciangai, designed by the trio of designers Gionathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi in 1973 for Zanotta. This piece of furniture is a cornerstone of Italian design, inspired by the Chinese game of sticks (Shangai), from which it takes its name. In 1979, it was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize and bears an engraved reference on one of the slats. It features a collapsible structure made up of eight wooden slats that open and close like a fan. The slats are made of black-stained ash wood. It has a height of 155 cm and when open has a diameter of about 45 cm, while when closed, it takes up very little space (about 11 cm). General condition is good, with some minimal signs of use.
