Magnificent Japanese-style display case with 2 shelves in blackened wood, in the style of Gabriel Viardot (Parisian cabinetmaker 1830-1904). Furniture dating from the end of the 19th century, around 1880. In molded and carved wood with 1 beveled glass door and its sides and 2 drawers with onyx front. The display case part is fixed and rests on the bottom of the furniture by 2 wooden dowels. Numerous symbolic animal ornaments in gilded bronze on the furniture, representing dragons, cranes, lion-dog and claw feet which evoke wisdom, immortality, longevity, fidelity, strength, power and protection. Interior of the display case in ruby-colored velvet, note a small crack at the bottom at the bottom right of it which is almost unnoticeable (see photo). Waxed finish. Stable furniture and in good general condition.
