Superb English coffee table made of solid oak, dating from the 1950s-60s, inspired by Victorian and Edwardian office furniture. The rectangular top is covered in original green leather, bordered with a hot-stamped gold trim. The leather shows a patina of use with slight central stains, witnesses of the passage of time and the authentic character of the piece — without compromising its sturdiness or elegance. The turned legs and classic lines of the solid wood frame give the whole a typically British charm. Perfect in a retro living room, a library, or an antique office, this table combines robustness, craftsmanship quality, and timeless style. To maintain the nobility of the old leather, do not try to make it "new": a subtle patina and minimal marks are often more beautiful and add value to the piece. Regarding the discoloured leather top, this coffee table requires a bit of care, but it is entirely feasible without going through a professional restorer, as long as the leather is not cracked or torn. You can rehydrate and restore the shine to the leather using dark green wax or dye applied with a soft cloth. You can also use a professional leather dye (Saphir, Tana, or TRG) for a complete touch-up and finish with a fixer (protective leather wax or varnish).
