Antique pine coffee table, traditional Chinese furniture from northern China, dated around 1930. Originating from northern China in the early 20th century, where local pine was crafted using mortise and tenon joinery without nails, featuring a solid top framed and with cut-out aprons. In rural homes of northern China, low tables served alongside the kang, as a support for tea cups, informal dining tables, or bases for objects. Their low height corresponded to the habit of living close to the ground, rooted in the north. Constructed from solid pine using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, without nails. The top, framed in a moulding, rests on four turned legs with cut-out arc aprons and H-shaped lower stretchers. The joinery is clean, and the construction remains visible. Details.
