Very large floor lamp with bamboo and rattan palm design, mid-century modern.

This very large mid-century palm floor lamp has a sculptural quality that elevates it from a simple playful light fixture to a tropical centrepiece! The base and trunk are carefully wrapped in pencil rattan, giving the lamp a textured spiral pattern. The trunk is slightly tilted to one side by design, mimicking a tree swaying in the wind. Three wicker coconut shells serve as lampshades for the bulbs and diffuse a warm ambient light. The palm leaves cascade from the trunk and can be arranged individually, making it a customisable light fixture for narrower corners. Often attributed to the Mexican designer Mario Lopez Torres, known for his wicker furniture and animals, we believe this floor lamp actually originates from Italy or France in the late 1960s or early 1970s. In very good condition with only minor signs of age and use, this floor lamp comes with its original wiring for European voltage and bulbs, and is operated by a cord switch. Thanks to the organic materials used, this floor lamp fits a wide range of interior styles and is suitable for many spaces, from porches and conservatories to spas, pools, living rooms, and dining areas.
