Bitossi Rimini Blu Lollipop Vase by Aldo Londi 1960s Italy

A handcrafted vase by Bitossi from the Rimini Blu series. This classic Bitossi pattern looks wonderful on this unique shape, like a lollipop vase. A classic, highly collectable vintage piece. This vase would look lovely on a coffee table or displayed on a shelf. It is a good size vase with a nice hefty weight. Aldo Londi designed the Rimini Blu range of ceramics in the early 1950s, gradually adding to the collection over several years. The collection, made up of vases and animal figures, is extremely recognisable. It is characterised by a beautiful blue, layered glaze that is enhanced with green and yellow. The deliberately irregular surface is hand-embossed with intertwining geometrical and very distinctive patterns. Bitossi itself describes these two aspects as combining to 'recall the movement and sparkle of the sunshine'.
