Gio Ponti SUPERLEGGERA 499 chair by Cassina, 1970s

Gio Ponti was perhaps the most influential figure in Italian design and architecture for nearly three decades, from the 1950s to the 1970s. Throughout his long career, he left his mark on furniture, tableware, architecture, and interior decoration. One of his most famous works is the 699 chair designed for Cassina, and its replacement name 'Superleggera', Italian for Ultralight, given its feathery weight of just 1700 grams per chair. The Superleggera is one of the most beloved chairs of all time. This seat chair was rewoven in the traditional style, a weaving that takes more then 12 hours. The chair is in a good condition, with small signs of wear. A true icon of the 1960s ready to start a new life.
